LNSRC BEAUTIFICATION FUND
Initial Program Details

LNSRC has pledged  5% of net revenue from the cell towers annually for neighborhood beautification/improvement projects.  Written requests for funds shall be sent to the Grants committee of LNSRC.  Requests for matching funds or stand alone projects will be considered by the committee and recommendations made to the LNSRC Board which will have final approval.  LNSRC will provide funds only – sponsoring organization will be responsible for all permits, approvals, and work on the projects.  Funds will be allocated on a timely basis as determined by the Grant Committee and written updates/summaries will be required.

 

Committee membership shall include:

  • Committee chair appointed by LNSRC Board

  • One member appointed by each civic league from their membership roles – must be a current LNSRC member

  • Current city council representative for Kings Grant area

All committee members shall have one vote each with simple majority of attending members for approval.  Committee meetings will be set by the chair on a quarterly basis as needed.

2006 Grants

Kings Grants was awarded $1,000 for pond beautification.
Redwood Farms was awarded$200 for their continued efforts to beautify Little Neck Road by planting daffodils.

2007 Grants

Little Haven Park  (between Bishopsgate and Middle Plantation on Little Haven Road)  -  Mary Hayes has been working with a committee and the city to beautify the park - project to be finished by Dec - much of the labor will be provided by the city and our  fund money will go directly for plants, bushes and trees.  $2250 was awarded.

ME Cox Eldercare - asked for funds to plant perennials, bushes, etc at front of building (can be seen from North Lynnhaven Road - behind Catholic church) - non-profit elder day care program serves all of Little Neck -  $500 was awarded.

Sea Breeze Farms - wants to continue the Little Neck Road tradition (of 2-3 years!) of planting daffodils along Little Neck Road adjacent to Sea Breeze - $300 was awarded.  (same as we gave Redwood Farms last year)

Suzy Stasulis - Girl Scout - wants to beautify triangle adjacent to CITGO at Kings Grant/Lynnhaven where the big tree recently went down - triangle is owned by Kings Grant Civic League - she is putting in $400 of money she has earned cookie sales, etc and would like $200  - $200 was awarded.
