Little Neck Swim and Racquet Club Announces Opening of New Pickleball Courts
Virginia Beach, VA – July 30, 2024 – The Little Neck Swim and Racquet Club (LNSRC) is excited to announce the opening of our brand-new Pickleball courts, marking a significant addition to our facilities. Since our establishment in 1981, the Little Neck Swim and Racquet Club has been a premier destination for swimming and tennis enthusiasts. With the recent surge in popularity of Pickleball across the nation, we are thrilled to join the trend and expand our offerings to include this dynamic and engaging sport.
Pickleball, a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, is played on a smaller court with a lower net, using a perforated plastic ball and paddles. It is easy to learn, making it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels, and offers a great way to stay active and socialize. Pickleball has experienced remarkable growth over the past few years, and is now the fastest growing sport in the United States, with an estimated 48.3 million pickleball players - a figure that has grown an average of 235.5% over the last three years, according to the Sports and FItness Industry Association.
To accommodate the growing interest in Pickleball, we have converted two of our tennis courts into six dedicated Pickleball courts. These new courts will provide our members with the perfect setting to enjoy this fast-paced and fun sport.
“Our club has always been committed to providing our members with the best facilities and recreational opportunities,” said Chad Knapp, president of the LNSRC Board of Directors. “The addition of Pickleball courts is a testament to our dedication to evolving with the interests of our community. We are excited to see our members, both young and old, enjoy this new offering.”
To celebrate the grand opening of our Pickleball courts, we will be hosting a Grand Opening on Sunday, August 4th from 11-1pm. The event will feature a ribbon cutting, Pickleball demonstrations, and lessons by U.S.A. Pickleball Ambassadors. This event will be free for all members and will include an introduction to the rules and techniques of Pickleball, as well as a chance to try out the new courts.
We invite all members of the Little Neck Swim and Racquet Club to come out and experience the excitement of Pickleball. For more information about the grand opening event or to learn more about Pickleball, please visit our website at LNSRC.org.
